A new calculational method for heat transfer is proposed in this paper, which can provide a broader problem-solving ideas for heat transfer. This method depends on the expansion of the temperature in the governing equation of transient heat conduction problem. The shape functions of this method are defined as a product of the radial basis functions and two angular basis functions. The radial basis functions are defined so that they possess the correct asymptotic decay as radius trends to infinite. Coupling with the standard finite element program, this method provides a capability for very efficiently modeling heat fields surrounding structures of virtually any practical shape. To test the feasibility of this method, the paper considers an example using the infinite/finite element method, which shows that new method is feasible.
