By using the numerical simulation software of heavy haul train longitudinal dynamics, tractive performance, brake performance, train longitudinal force and longitudinal impulse of Datong-Qinhuangdao 20,000 tons heavy haul trains which adopt different heavy haul locomotives and different train formations are simulated and calculated. The simulated results are detailedly compared with the actual Datong-Qinhuangdao running test results in cases of emergency braking, full service braking and cycle braking. The rationality and validity of train model, wagon connection models, brake system models of the numerical simulation software of heavy haul train longitudinal dynamics are verified. The results show that the models of simulation software are correct and simulation values are precise. The simulation result is basically the same with the actual test result This software can be used to do further simulation and research on longitudinal performance and operation of heavy haul train.
