The Lungmen Advanced Boiling Water Reactor (ABWR) Full Scope Simulator (FSS) is the first simulator that is built for the new generation of nuclear power plants that is in full compliance with ANSI/ANS-3.5-1998. The Lungmen FSS is implemented in a total PC Windows environment. Its core modeling is based on a best estimate computer code, TRACS/NEMO. The complete modeling of FSS, including the core modeling and modeling of 105 plant systems, is hosted in one PC. A primary/backup server configuration ensures continuous operation of the FSS. The FSS also provides a soft panel feature. This makes the whole system portable. This paper describes the hardware, software and implementation process used for the Lungmen FSS. Due to the feet that the Lungmen FSS is implemented in parallel with the design and construction of the new plant and that the Lungmen ABWR's advanced control room is different from traditional control rooms, this paper describes the difficulties encountered and overcame throughout the performance of the Lungmen FSS project. The Lungmen FSS has completed its Site Acceptance Test (SAT) and Availability Test (AVT) and is currently used for operator training. This enables operator training and licensing to be performed and completed before plant startup and commercial operation of the Lungmen ABWR.
