The purpose of this study was to examine the relations between three domains of OCBs and team effectiveness, and to test for the moderating effects of task complexity on the relationship between OCBs and team effectiveness. A cross-sectional survey of 249 employees from 31 Chinese manufacturing companies showed that self, group, and organization domain OCBs were directly related to job satisfaction, group and organization domain OCBs were directly related to team performance. The relationships between job satisfaction, team performance and organization domain OCBs were moderated by task complexity respectively. Results demonstrate that differences in job satisfaction and team performance were heightened by task complexity. Implications for practice and directions for future research are discussed.
