Within the FP7-project G-MOSAIC (GMES services for management of operations, situation awareness and intelligence for regional crisis) a particular focus is set on the definition and evaluation of crisis indicators for impact assessments at regional or national level using earth observation (EO) techniques. As a part of the project, EO-based assessments of the environmental impacts of population displacement in the Northern Darfur crisis area will be carried out. The study aims at assessing the environmental impact around an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Zam Zam (Northern Darfur, located south of El Fasher), caused by rapid growth of camp population.
