Based on the current seismic design code and spot investigation on the damages of brick concrete structures in Wenchuan and Dujiangyan after the "5 · 12" Earthquake, this paper deals with the resisting-earthquake performance of brick concrete structures. On the basis of comprehensive analysis of design, seismic layout, structural measures and construction quality etc, improvement measures and key controlling step are put forward in seismic design and construction management. And it is pointed out that seismic measures, construction measure and construction quality plays a decisive role in seismic performance of buildings. The relationship between seismic magnitude and intensity in current seismic design code is discussed. And it is pointed out that as to brick concrete structure with larger space, seismic capacity could be improved significantly by proper increase of wall thickness.
