The RCV engine. Technical analysis and real world benefits

RCV Engines has developed a novel 4-stroke technology that uses a rotary valve to control the gas exchange process. The valve can be configured in a number of ways and has been successfully implemented in engines sizes upto 35cc/cylinder. For adoption of such a technology; not only should the design be robust and suitable for volume production, but also offer clear benefits. Applications where the RCV valve has demonstrated this are in model aircraft engines, heavy fuel UAVs and hand-held garden tools. These benefits include engine size, power to weight, reliable over-speed operation and tolerance of low octane JP8 fuel.
