Scandia stabilized zirconia (ScSZ, (ZrO2)_(1-x)(Sc2O3)_x) material is attractive as the electrolyte for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) that is operated at intermediate temperatures (600-800°C). 10mol% Sc2O3 doped ScSZ (10ScSZ, (ZrO2)_(0.9)(Sc2O3)_(0.1)) material having a cubic phase shows a maximum ionic conductivity, especially. But 10ScSZ compound was accompanied with the cubic-rhombohedral phase transformation at 600°C. The addition of a small amount of MnO2 ((ZrO2)_(0.9-x)(Sc2O3)_(0.1)(MnO2)_x, x=0.01-0.03) has been effective for preventing phase transformation.^
