The field of printed electronics (PE) is becoming increasingly dynamic, with the technology garnering much interest as of late. Using printing processes to build a functioning electrical device is a very attractive option within many markets for several reasons. These include speed of production, cost of manufacture and very flexible form factors. In fact, PE currently has significant penetration in the white goods, membrane and capacitive touch markets. Current applications within the medical sector include printing EKG and defibulator pads, glucose sensors, drug delivery devices and printed heaters. Other well-established applications include RFID antenna for security devices and EL lighting.
