摘要

High performance coatings are currently used in automotive racing engine applications, and are being considered for commercial fleet applications. Diamond-like carbon coatings are the primary focus of attention, but other coating types are also available, all with the aim of reducing engine friction and wear. In the present study, the friction and wear performance of a series of commercial coatings were evaluated in various laboratory tribological tests using simple combinations of crankcase automotive additives in a synthetic base fluid.
