Research On Innovation Network Structure In Manufacturing Industry Cluster-Experience From China

Industry cluster plays a very important role in region economic development in the world. Since Chinese economic development is very rapid, and the average GDP annual growth rate in recent years is near 10%, many researches and scholars searching for the economy development reasons focus on industry cluster. For example, Zhejiang province, a province in east of China, is very lack of natural resource. However, Zhejiang province economy is the most powerful in China. A very obvious reason for Zhejiang economy development is industry cluster, especially in manufacturing sectors. The past successful Zhejiang experience indicates that industry cluster is the sustaining power for regional economy development.But as we research on industry cluster, we find that innovation is the main reason for industry cluster development. Some famous industry cluster in the world vanished, such as hardware industry in Taiwan area. So it is necessary for us to understand the innovation network structure in industry cluster. As we know, the most important factor for innovation is knowledge that may be tangible and intangible. How to get and make use of the valued knowledge will decide the firms' innovative performance. So we should consider the innovation network structure which may promote the innovation knowledge exchange and create valued knowledge. From our investigation in Zhejiang, we find that some successful industry clusters have common innovation network structure and some unsuccessful industry clusters lack of supporting factor in innovation network.Innovation network structure can conduce to cluster innovation. Zhejiang industry clusters' development adapt to our research. Many products made in Zhejiang possess world-class level, such assocks, shoes and neckwear. In this paper we divide the innovation network into three parts--corenetwork, assistant network and supporting network. Core network includes the relationship between firms. Assistant network includes research, finance institution and service institution. Supporting network involves government and some organization with technology resource, information resource, capital resource and human resource. We analyze the innovation network structure by investigating Zhejiang manufacturing industry cluster. So in this paper, there will be some cases to explain the innovation network structure.The paper's conclusion may contribute to some developing countries.
