In a series of controlled experiments we measure the impact of Model Eliciting Activities (MEA) use in engineering learning environments. Specifically, we test the influence of MEAs on students' learning of engineering concepts and problem solving skills. Students' problem solving process is recorded and later graded using a rubric developed to assess the quality of MEA solutions. Using these grades, improvement in student learning and problem solving skills has been measured. Our results suggest that use of MEAs in engineering learning have some benefits in improving conceptual understanding, problem solving, working in teams as well as ethical reasoning abilities of students.
