Statistical Investigation of Glovebox Glove Breaches: Inventory Planning

Operators who work in gloveboxes rely on protective gloves for safety while handling dangerous materials. An organization that uses and maintains gloveboxes will benefit from an inventory strategy that considers both shelf life of the gloves and workplace tactics while the gloves are used. The minimization of unplanned breaches of the glove material is a safety concern in operations. This research employs reliability modeling to construct statistical models that allow for an accurate assessment of glove life, identify root causes of glove failures and the actions adequate to prevent recurrence, and develop an inventory strategy.
