Ultra-wideband (UWB) transceiver architecture is proposed in this paper for medical applications designed at the UWB frequency range. An analog to digital converter (ADC) circuit, which represents the key tool of signal processing for future developments of UWB systems, has been developed based on sampling theorem and pulse code modulation (PCM) techniques using UWB pulse generator with pico-second pulse width. An UWB received signal is sampled using a train of 90ps half-power pulse width and 2V impulse-response. Picosecond's high-speed sampler with high bit rate is obtained using 4 bits coding. ADS simulation results are shown with micro-strip line technology on an RT/Duroid 6006 high frequency laminate substrate with a relative dielectric constant of 6.15 and a thickness of 0.254 mm.
