THE ROLE OF POWER CURTAILMENT ON THE UNCERTAINTY OF ENERGY YIELD ESTIMATES - (PPT)

Sometimes a wind farm can only deliver a percentage of its nominal power to the grid, incurring in a power curtailment. After recently published specific legislation concerning the tariff, this feature is currently being analyzed in Portugal by several Developers, assessing the possibility to expand assets. Despite the impact of curtailment on energy yield estimates is relatively well established, its role on uncertainty estimates is, typically, neglected. At a time when worst case scenarios and P75-P95 figures require a thorough scrutiny, a methodology to assess the role of power curtailment on uncertainty is presented and discussed.
