This paper highlights the educational needs for the expanding wind industry. The technology is rapidly evolving and the breadth of the technology requires engineers who are adaptable and effective; design engineers must design for high reliability and ease of assembly by technicians with little wind experience. While educators should endeavor to keep up to date with the wind industry technology the basic needs of young engineers are accuracy, clarity, self-motivation, collaboration skills, basic physics, understanding of acceptable solutions, continual learning, being systematic, good communication and creativity. Given these skills the ability to adapt to new technology will be inherent.
