Accuracy Assessment for Chlorophyll a Measurements in the Gut of Stream Stonefly Nymphs

We experimentally examined the accuracy of chlorophyll a measurements in the gut of two species of stonefly nymphs(Oyamia lugubris and Kamimuria uenoi).We compared the mixed chlorophyll a concentration between the algae in stonefly gut and natural algae(i.e.,observed chlorophyll a)with arithmetically averaged chlorophyll a concentration of gut algae and natural algae(i.e.,predicted chlorophyll a).A good correlation between observed and predicted chlorophyll a concentrations indicated that digestive chemicals did not affect the chlorophyll a measurements.
