The high explosive charge, used for shaped charges, has a different priority in its conditions compared to other warheads and weapon systems. The author gives the first priority to a very high grade of rotational symmetry of the high explosive charge with regard to the geometry, to achieve straight jets, what is the requirement for deep penetrations. Also the survival conditions in fast cook-off, bullet or fragment impact tests, non-sympathetic detonation behavior and not too strong reactions by shaped charge jet impacts are general wishes or requirements for less sensitive high explosive charges in shaped charge ammunitions. Further economical conditions like availability and life cycle costs have to be also taken into account.
