The chemical engineering profession has a common background in chemical processes, systemsanalysis, and systems economics. Chemical engineering training occurs through course andlaboratory work addressing mathematical, scientific, and engineering fundamentals. With a strongbackground in mathematics, chemistry, and physics, chemical engineering students study transportphenomena (the description of momentum, heat, and mass transfer in chemical processes), chemicalkinetics and reaction engineering;;process control and design;;and optimization of chemicalprocesses. These subjects are common throughout the traditional chemical industry, although theycan also be applied to other industries such as electronics manufacture and biological andbiochemical engineering. The employed tools include sophisticated scientific experiments, the latestdevelopments in computing, and large scale pilot plants.In the recent years, there has been a change in the way of teaching in the Spanish University, to adaptto the European Higher Education. As a consequence it has been necessary a change in chemicalengineering studies so that the new Chemical Engineering graduate studies started in theComplutense University (Madrid-Spain) in 2009.When teaching a new course, developing a good set of instructional materials can be a challenging,time-consuming task. In this paper we present how moodle platform and visualization software can beused as a common platform to integrate modular teaching. We hypothesize that such an integratedapproach will help students to better appreciate the interconnectedness of the knowledge acquired indifferent Heat Engineering modules, such as combined convection and radiation, shell and tube heatexchanger, thermal conductivity, etc. this, in turn, will also stimulate their interest in the modules inengineering education.
