Shallow Water 06 was a large ocean acoustics and physical oceanography experiment conducted during July-Sept 2006 off the New Jersey coast. This large scale experiment included seven ships, sixty-two moorings, dozens of Pi's, a fleet of gliders, aircraft, and satellites. A component of this experiment was the moored array of physical oceanographic sensors that was designed to measure the vertical and horizontal structure of the internal solitary wave field generated at the shelf break as it propagated through the acoustics array. Thirty four moorings were deployed by WHOI - both heavily instrumented Environmental Moorings (6) and less heavily instrumented Structure Moorings (28). A number of solitary wave events were observed, and the 19 August 2006 event was selected to illustrate the internal soliton signature at one mooring, and the ability of the moored array to track this solitary wave through the large and small scale moored arrays, giving it's speed, direction and changes with time.
