Studies on the augmentation of mass transfer due to the presence of coaxially placed entry region coils were presented in this paper. The range of flow conditions have been covered: Reynolds numbers from 1200 to 14,000 and Schmidt number from 800 to 1300. Coils were tested within a geometrical pitch 0.015, 0.025, 0.035 m and coil length 0.065, 0.095, 0.125 m. Results have shown that coils increased augmentation up to three times compared to the empty smooth tube. Entry region coil inserts show a considerable advantage over other enhancement techniques. A model was developed in terms of flow and geometric parameters and presented.g = 3.1422e8 [Re~+_m ]-0.006092 (Φ 1)-0.17246 (Φ 2)-30448 (Φ3)3.0607.
