The Long-term Follow-up of Lunate Excision, Capitate Osteotomy, and Intercarpal Arthrodesis for Advanced Kienbock Disease

We have performed a modified Graner procedure on fifteen patients with advanced Kienbock's disease. According to the Evans scoring system, good were achieved in eleven patients, fair in two, poor in two, and very poor in none. To maintain carpal alignment and to prevent carpal instability after excision was also achieved at more ten years postoperatively. Postoperatively, osteoarthritic changes were observed in all fifteen patients. However, these changes were on the dorsal side of the newly formed radio-carpal joint in most of patients and did not seem to cause clinical symptoms at more ten years postoperatively.
