Application of Low-intensity Ultrasound for Treatment of Patients with Chronic Lower Back Pain

In 58 patients with chronic lower back pain and moderate pain syndrome we have shown that therapeutic ultrasound procedures (0,4-0,6 mW/cm~2, 10 min per day, for 10 consecutive days) is an effective rehabilitation treatment. In experimental and clinical investigations it has been demonstrated that this effect accompanies a significant decrease in activity of hepatic CYP450-monooxygenase system, which is responsible for xenobiotics metabolism. It is expedient to take into consideration the reduced activity of hepatic metabolizing enzymes combining ultrasound treatment with pharmacological agents.
