This article discusses the challenges of future digital media distribution scenarios in order to assure an overarching end-to-end quality of service. The developments within the market of digital distribution are presented and the different parts of the value chain are analyzed. Requirements for technical solutions are elaborated with reference to existing solutions for the specific parts of the value chain. Additionally, potential business models are outlined and the overall need for an overarching end-to-end quality of service solution is proposed. Finally a technical approach for the elaborated requirements is presented.
