Strontium-doped lanthanum manganite (La_(0.8)Sr_(0.2)MnO3, or LSM) synthesized through mechanical activation was used for the cathode of intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cell (IT-SOFC). The average particle size of the LSM powder was 0.28 um, and the size distribution was narrow. In the resultant cathode, a homogeneous porous structure with fine grains (<0.5 μm) was observed. The cathodic polarization was 240 and 90 mV under the current density of 0.5 A ·cm~(-2) at 700 and 800 °C, respectively. The mA aximum power density of the anode supported cell with the cathode was 0.34 and 0.75 W·cm~(-2) at 700 and 800 °C. respectively.
