Integrated approaches to research and management in mountain areas:why and how?

This paper 1) outlines integrated approaches to research and management; 2) considersthe application of these approaches in mountain areas; 3) presents principles forimplementing these approaches. It is primarily based on a recent book (Price, 2007b),especially the introductory and concluding chapters (Price, 2007a; Mitchell-Banks &Price, 2007).
