ZF ECOnnect: The cost-optimized evolution of the ZF AWD-Disconnect system

With its ECOnnect products, ZF supplies a wide variety of four-wheel disconnect systems. The overall systems designed for front-transverse application feature a compact design geared to volume production. Thanks to optimized coupling elements in disconnected status, all systems have minimal torque losses and help effectively to reduce the known fuel consumption drawbacks of conventional AWD vehicles. The rapid coupling and decoupling processes are not noticeable to the driver and are realized with the help of precise, electromechanical or electromagnetic actuators. The different characteristics of the three ZF ECOnnect systems allow special consideration of customer requirements in terms of costs, utility, and function.
