Global Powertrain Calibration Execution: The global front-wheel-drive 6 speed in General Motors vehicles

Like many automotive products today, the Global Front-Wheel-Drive 6 Speed transmission (GF6 for short) is a product used globally in many configurations. What makes the GF6 unique? It is the tightly integrated global footprint of the Development and Calibration Organization. For example, to produce the new Global Compact Vehicle architecture with a GF6, the engineering development centers in United States, Korea, Germany, France, China, and Australia combine and collaborate specializing in different areas of the Powertrain Development. Additionally, the development is not executed serially by region with a hand over of a completed component to the next region. It is rather a collaborative effort with real time feedback loops that combine all the expertise of the respective centers to succeed.
