This report discusses a method of predicting the extent to which gearbox rattle noises will be relevant for car customers. To this end, three independent areas of analysis are defined and presented. In concrete terms, these are a) simulation of the rotational irregularity exhibited by the car's power train, b) virtual classification of gearbox rattling behaviour and c) objective evaluation of perceivable gear rattle noise in the car in respect of the relevance of such noise for the customer.
