Planing crafts are high-speed marine vehicles, with applications ranging from small pleasure boats to large military crafts. RANSE applications are rapidly increasing in high performance planing vessel design. For planing vessels the change in the trim and sinkage of the boat due to the pressure field around the vessel is significant. The motion of high speed, light weight crafts in waves result in large vertical motions of the body which cause slamming at the hull bottom. Slamming causes not only large accelerations, but also heavy stresses in the bow region of the planing craft. For safe structural design - the prediction of slamming pressure and pressure distribution at the bottom of the hull are important.
