Between the years 2003 and 2006 Earth Tech designed and oversaw the implementation of two separate Remedial Action Plans (RAP) at Statia Terminal’s active oil terminal at Point Tupper, Nova Scotia. Remedial actions included the excavation, characterization and biological treatment of approximately 60,000 tons of hydrocarbon (TPH)-impacted soil; the design, construction, and operation of an interception system for the removal of free product in groundwater; the characterization and removal of TPH and asbestos-impacted soils; the design and development of an on-site landfill for the impacted soils; the demolition of the pump station building and foundation; and, the removal of an underground storage tank. Site activities also included the investigation around the former pump station and seven historical waste disposal areas and preparation of site closure documentation.
