Statoil Worldwide DP Requirements Implementation and Operational Experience

The paper details the process of development of the Worldwide DP Requirements approved and released by Statoil in August 2001. The DP Requirements are contained in Statoil's corporate Working Requirements under document number WR0581. The document presented today was developed for the Statoil B&B Well Technology department and is designed to be valid to all it's drilling and well testing operations using dynamically positioned units or vessels. This paper also uses examples to show how different Oil Operators and drilling contractors are adopting some or all of the requirements in WR0581 to assist improvement within their management of DP operations. It should be noted that the Requirements are NOT simply for NW Europe, but designed for application worldwide. Special provisions for specific aspects of operating in NW Europe are contained within the document.
