The effective elastic and thermal transport properties of carbon nanocoil(CNC)/polymer composites has been investigated numerically. To determine the effective properties, the finite element analyzes were performed using a three-dimensional unit cell model taking into account the interface layer formed around the CNC. The effective properties of the composites with aligned straight CNCs were firstly calculated and the effective properties of the composite with randomly oriented straight CNCs were then predicted by the results for unit cell model. Similar calculations were also made for CNT/polymer composites. The results for CNC/polymer composites were compared with those for CNT/polymer composites.
