Bright Electroplating of Iron Thin Film from A Glyme Bath

Since aluminum (Al) has a very negative redox potential (-1.68 V vs. SHE), only a little amount of transition metal impurities can influence the Al electrodeposition [1]. There have been few researches about the effect of iron(II) on active species for Al reduction in organic baths, in which the organic solvents serve as neutral ligand complexing with the AlCl_3 to form electrochemically active species. In this study, effects of ferrous chloride (FeCl_2) addition on electrochemical behavior have been investigated for the AlCl_3-diethylene glycol dimethyl ether (G2) bath [2].
