TMA study on coercivity origin in mechanically alloyed Co-Zr alloy

Since the discovery of the Nd-Fe-B-type material over two decades ago, a great demand for a new and superior hard magnetic phase has been increased. A Co-Zr phase has been investigated as one of promising candidate materials for an application of permanent magnetic material [1,2,3]. Although intensive research works have been made, the hard magnetic properties of the Co-Zr phase are still not well understood. Further systematic study is needed to understand the magnetic properties of the Co-Zr phase and to exploit this phase as a permanent magnetic material. In the present study, thermomagnetic behaviour and phase relation in the mechanically alloyed Co-Zr material were investigated using a thermomagnetic analysis technique (TMA). The knowledge obtained by the TMA study was related to tie coercivity origin of the mechanically alloyed Co-Zr material.
