Combination of High Power Defocused Laser and Low Level Laser Therapy in Treating Hypertrophic Scars and Keloids

Introduction: Hypertrophic scars and keloids are known to be difficult to treat because of their tendency to worsen. Since previous studies show contradictory results, this prospective study was designed. Material and Methods: 10 patients with 18 hypertrophic scars were treated using 980nm, 16 W defocused laser and 650nm, 30mW laser. Results: The average rating on the VSS decreased from 10.17 to 2.06 in an average 26 sessions. Conclusion: This kind of therapy has a positive effect on hypertrophic scars.
