This paper describes the cure mechanism of cyanoacrylates and discusses details of the various types of cyanoacrylate adhesives.Cyanoacrylates are widely used in the medical industry and can be surprisingly durable adhesives if the joint configuration,the correct grade of adhesive and assembly method are all considered from the outset and this paper includes guidelines for the design of bonded joints for cyanoacrylates.There is a section on the bonding of low energy plastics and rubbers and the article is illustrated with some case histories.UV curing adhesives are also used for bonding clear plastics and this paper reviews the UV curing technology products and discusses the importance of matching the UV equipment with the adhesive selection.Finally,there is a section on dispensing the adhesives on the production line with practical tips on application techniques.
