The inner profile of blast furnace (BF) is the geometric space of transfer of heat, mass and momentum, as well as metallurgical reaction during the blast furnace smelting process. Its physical essence is the geometry, structural dimension and relationship between them inside BF. BF inner profile is an important part of the BF proper. For a long time, the design method with statistics and analogy is often used for design of BF inner profile. There is a few exploration and research theoretically on it. BF inner profile has a very important effect to stable and smooth operation, high efficiency and low consumption, and long service life of BF smelting. Reasonable BF inner profile is the foundation for BF stable operation and long service life. Therefore, the inner profile design of modern BF is to establish a new idea and method, following the metallurgical principle and rule, to carry out exploration and research of the BF inner profile.
