Enterprise central control system - A case study of remote monitoring, diagnostics and information exchange for steel operations

Any global steel organization with integrated local operations faces the same challenges: Global visibility of production output and unit operations, diversity of technologies / data and methods among the plants and lack of local skills. Global steel producers are looking for establish a standard way to view unit operations, align business process to operation process and create information sharing across the world requiring the creation of "communities of collaboration" This paper will describe a real example of the use of information technology able to create a global network of steel operations around the world allowing access to a common knowledge database, expertise exchange and near real time information access.
