An Analysis of ISD as Knowledge Work-How is the Body of Systems Development Process Knowledge Used?

This position paper characterises information systems development (ISD) in terms of knowledge work We extend and apply a framework which models ISD work in a hierarchy of paradigms, approaches, methods, and techniques. The extension of the framework comprises six different perspectives of knowledge. The extended framework is applied on an empirical case in which a new systems development method is utilised in a project The conclusion of the paper is mat me perception of the extent to which the new method has actually bees implemented ina the organisation is highly dependent on the perspective of knowledge that we adopt m our analysis.
