Energy management in residential buildings

Energy Management in residential buildings is an area which is not yet discussed very detailed. Reasons were the relatively high costs of data collection, the missing of simple but reliable methods for data interpretation and the lack of easy available knowledge about the relevance of energy conservation measures. The goal of the project KENWO (BMWi Fordekennzeichen 0329828F, homepage http://www.kenwo.de/ is to improve this situation by developing cost-effective data loggers for the collection of consumption data, easily understandable visualizations of these data and simple rules for the application of energy conserving measures. As a first step in reaching this goal we developed an energy monitor system called Energieampel which is described in the present paper.
