As we strive to reduce the overall weight of cars to improve fuel efficiency; more parts are being manufactured from Aluminium alloys where traditionally ferrous forgings have been used. One case in point is steering arms. Because we are using light alloys it is vital that these parts are critically inspected as the failure of such a component would cause a serious accident.
