A pilot model of two interlinked industrial sectors using Simulink was constructed for the purpose of observing time based effects on an LCA. One of the uses of LCA are to choose materials which are overall envirnomentally benign. However, current LCA neglects time as a factor. In this study, process models were built which included process delays. The results show that time is a critical factor in making material choices. If the transient behavior of an industry indicates that it is not steady state, then material sullplies can be interrupted.
