INNOVATION OF ENGINEERING EDUCATION FOR CHINA'S DEVELOPMENT

Both technology and Science are the most important factors to increase productivity. The marketing-mode economy has accelerated the economic development in China and this is triggering the development of Chinese engineering education. Reformation of engineering education in China is required to meet national demands in science, economy, and society. This reformation should exert the advantages and avoid the disadvantages. Based on statistical data and historical facts, this paper discusses the recent characteristics in China and new requirements for engineering education. Following a retrospection of the history and summarising the existing problems, some suggestions for reform in Engineering Education are then proposed. This reformation should emphasise on enhancing education system, promoting teaching staff, strengthening teaching modes and enforcing moral education in order to obtain higher achievements in engineering education.
