Invited Paper: Security and Efficiency of Quantum Cryptographic Protocols

For concrete quantum key generation and quantum direct encryption protocols, we discuss the various problems in quantifying the security level and the efficiency associated with the steps of advantage creation, error correction, and privacy amplification.
