A series of copoly(aryl ether ketone)s were derived from fluorinated bisphenol monomer (4-fluoro phenylhydroquinone),4,4 ′-diflourodiphenylketone and resorcin by nucleophilic aromatic substitution polycondensation. The polycondensation proceeded quantitatively in N, N-dimethyl acetamide (DMAc) in the presence of anhydrous potassium carbonate and afforded the copolymers with inherent viscosity of 0.35-0.58 dL/g. The structures of copolymers were confirmed by FT-IR and 1 H NMR, and the properties of these copolymers were studied by DSC, TGA, WXRD, etc. The results showed that these copolymers are noncrystalline and possess high temperature stability and high glass transition temperatures (Tg). Furthermore these copolymers show good solubility in many solvents such as NMP, DMF, DMSO, CH2Cl2, THF, CHCl3, etc. Good solubility is an important advantage to apply these copolymers for practical applications.
