The general aim of the presented research was to determine interactions between standard antiwear additives of ZDTP type and selected ceramic materials of different structures and different tribological activity. The analysis of interactions between ZDTP and selected ceramic materials of ionic bond - Al_2O_3, covalent bond -SiC and metallic one - TiN was conducted. In addition, the tests on composite layers consisting of metallic matrix Ni-P and the ceramic materials listed above were carried out. The composite layers were deposited by means of electroless method on the steel matrix C45.
