Ni_3Al foils show catalytic property for hydrogen production reaction such as methanol decomposition [1]. The catalytic activity is expected to be higher on rough and irregular surface having larger surface area compared with flat surface. In case of Ni(gamma)/Ni_3Al(gamma') two-phase foils, such irregular surface can be obtained by selective etching of either phase. We here examined the electrochemical etching behavior of the two-phase alloys using the single-crystalline ingots with Ni-18(at.%)Al.
