Formation process of β-FeSi_2 nanoparticles: Ex-situ and in-situ transmission electron microscopy observations

We have recently succeeded in synthesizing β-FeSi_2 nanoparticles using electron-beam evaporation technique [1]. However, its formation mechanism is not clearly understood. In this study, the formation process of β-FeSi_2 nanoparticles from as-deposited Fe thin film was investigated.
