Results of tribological investigations are presented, obtained by using a lubricated system consisting of a friction lining plate and a steel counter plate of a common dual vehicle clutch system. The focus was to detect the influence of the final manufacturing step of the steel counter plate on the friction behaviour of the clutch plate system. The steel plate surface was produced by an innovative honing process. Furthermore, different lubricants were used. Different honing angles generate various friction behaviour and friction coefficients of the lubricated clutch plates. Based on the results of the tribological investigations, the optimization potential of the tribological system "friction lining plate/steel counter plate" has been demonstrated.
